How to make cut flowers last longer

How to make cut flowers last longer

The single biggest thing you can do to extend the life of cut flowers is to trim the stems at a 45-degree angle under running water immediately before placing them in a vase. This opens up the stem and allows maximum water uptake.

Change the water every two days and keep your flowers away from direct sunlight, draughts and ripening fruit — ethylene gas from fruit accelerates wilting. With a little care, most arrangements will last seven to ten days.
